Youth on the Move Card: Consultation

Thu, 28/04/2011 - 00:26 — Anonymous

The European Commission has launched a consultation about the Youth on the Move Card!

We are young, we are mobile and on the move and our Card is mentioned in the European Survey (Erasmus Student Card)!

The deadline is the 4th June 2011. The results of the consultation will be important for you and ESN as well!

The questionnaire is now closed. Thanks to all the participants!

What is "Youth on the Move Card"?

It will be YOUR card! It will be a tool that aims at increasing the mobility and participation of young people in Europe. Are you an exchange student? Were you in exchange? Who better than you can understand the importance of a European card with the focus on mobility!

What is an Online Consultation?

Internet and modern technology allow Institutions to ask directly to you what you think about a certain topic. Citizen participation in policy development through these tools is important: share your opinion and have you voice heard!

What is the objective of this consultation?

The European Commission would like to hear your opinion on youth cards in light of preparations for one of the top 10 targeted actions of the Youth on the Move flagship initiative: the Youth on the Move card.

There are already several cards that currently support young people in different ways, in the field of, for example, mobility or culture, offering discounts, access to information and networking opportunities. The idea behind the YoM card is not to replace these cards, but rather to build on and cooperate with these cards, possibly in the form of a label. This label could add European value, offering more discounts and access to information and networks and new features such as giving the cards a practical, social, and legal value for its users (anyone between 13 and 30 years old in Europe).

Take 5 minutes of your time and fill in the Online Consultation! If you have any doubt, contact us at youth@esn.org!

YoM Card: an Initiative of the European Commission

The European Commission has launched a consultation about a new European and mobility-oriented Card: the Youth on the Move Card!

European Commission

The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union. The body is responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the Union's treaties and the general day-to-day running of the Union.

The Commission operates as a cabinet government, with 27 Commissioners. There is one Commissioner per member state, though Commissioners are bound to represent the interests of the EU as a whole rather than their home state.

Youth on the Move

Youth on the Move is a flagship initiative of the European Union focused on young people. Young people have been hit particularly hard by the recent social and economic crisis. Youth on the Move aims at increasing their chances of finding a job by enhancing student and trainee mobility and improving the quality and attractiveness of education and training in Europe.

Youth on the Move is part of Europe 2020, the EU's plan for how Europe will emerge from the social and economic crisis.

ESN and Youth on the Move

Youth and Education are the fields of interest of ESN. On the 15th of September 2010 the YoM initiative was launched and ESN contributed with an Opinion Paper.

This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This website reflects the views only of the author, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
