Section in the Spotlight December 2012

With winter starting to take its toll on most of Europe this December, we turn our heads to warmer climates as this month's Section in the Spotlight goes to ESN Pavia. As a small section in a small town in Italy, don't be fooled. ESN Pavia shows us all that contrary to popular belief, size doesn't always matter.

Founded in 1992, ESN Pavia has maintained its goals: to make sure that every Pavia's Erasmus spent the best and most complete experience of his or her life. This year has been particularly special for the section with the celebration of its 20th birthday, which coincides alongside the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus programme.

ESN renews the agreement for Responsible Party

Erasmus Student Network and Pernod Ricard signed the last Thursday 29^th of November in Brussels the new agreement to continue the Responsible Party campaign where both parties collaborate to promote the responsible consumption of alcohol and also to raise awareness of the problems that the regular abuse of it could cause.

ESN at the Youth Forum General Assembly in Maribor

The General Assembly of the European Youth Forum (YFJ) took place in Maribor, Slovenia from November 22-25, 2012. Emanuel Alfranseder, President of ESN AISBL, and Carla Filetti, Liaison Officer to the YFJ, represented ESN at the most important meeting of the YFJ. The meeting focused on the elections of the new board members and also on the adaptation of the Work Plan for 2013-2014. Policy paper on Youth Rights and also a Position Paper, named "LoveYouthFuture" with the aim to increase the investments on Youth were also adopted by the general assembly.

Students that go on exchange or internship coming semester and want to rent out their room can use the housing platform on HousingAnywhere.com.

Outgoing students can earn some extra money for their exchange by renting out their rooms, and they will help their own university with increasing the supply of short-stay housing for the incoming exchange students. This website is free to use and works on a student-to-student basis.

Fraternite 2020 Petition

The Fraternite 2020 petition aims at giving more EU citizens the opportunity to spend time in another member state, give them a better chance to 'broaden their horizons' and develop a European identity. They ask for more funds available for EU exchange programmes, develop more skills among the participants, and track progress in the field of mobility through better monitoring.
