SocialErasmus Week 2012
In the week May 4th to 11th the SocialErasmus Week took place. During the week many activities around Europe took place and Erasmus students were involved in activities integrating local communities. Our SocialErasmus Coordinator Michel Erlandsen toured Europe with a camera crew and visited many of the activities. Check the map to see the activities that took place.

Open Call: Director ESN AISBL
ESN is opening the position of a Director to reinforce its secretariat and to accompany the work of the Board. The Director will be the leader of the secretariat and work together with the Board on the development of ESN activities and on the continuity of its work. The Director will ensure the application of the strategic choices of the association, employing the necessary resources and recruiting the appropriate individuals to support the projects and activities of the organisation.
The Director will start working in the beginning of July with a two year full-time contract in Brussels.

Eduk8 Registration Open
The next Eduk8 training takes place this summer in Slovakia and the registration has just been opened! The aim of the Eduk8 project is to create a pool of trainers in various fields, who can hold workshops at ESN events and share the knowledge. Do you want to develop your skills and learn how to be a trainer? If the answer is yes, then, this event is for you! Deadline for the application is 27th of May. Read more information on esn.org.

The network is constanlty growing and just a couple of days ago we reached the magical number 400! Now, we have 400 sections in the Erasmus Student Network! Our 400th section is ESN Split in Croatia!
Photo Contest
ESN is looking for the best photos that will be included in the design of the new ESN calendar. The theme is: "Viva Erasmus - viva ESN" and photos should show what a great time Erasmus and ESN are and what good they do for you and Europe. Submit your photos! Generation 1992
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the European single market decision, the European Commission launched an online communication campaign "Generation 1992". The campaign encourages young people to express their views about the single market by participating in a creative contest. The campaign is addressed to the generation born in 1992: All 20-year-olds are invited to submit their experiences, stories, complaints and proposals how to make Europe a better place to live and work. Survey: Access of exchange students to bank accounts
The European Commission would like to find out what obstacles EU citizens face when they move to another EU country as an Erasmus or exchange student and try to open a bank account. Filling out the questionnaire takes less then 5 minutes and the results will help the Commission to assess whether something needs to be done to improve access to bank accounts. Please fill out this short survey and share it with your friends.

The new record of Erasmus students reached
231 410 student went on Erasmus in the academic year 2010-2011 and that is the new record of Erasmus students! It represents the annual increase of 8.5%. The three most popular destinations for students in 2010-11 were Spain, France and Germany. Luxembourg sent the largest number of students abroad as a proportion of the national student population. 'We Mean Business': Campaign to boost work placements
The campaign has set up a dedicated website which allows young people searching for work experience to connect with companies offering such opportunities. The aim is to help companies create a greater number of traineeships, improving the skills and employability of young people. The campaign will also highlight the importance of international internships in improving the language skills, self-confidence and adaptability of young people. Check the website to find out more.

The 4th of May Josefin Svensson attended the General Assembly of AEGEE. ESN held a workshop about SocialErasmus and attended sessions and plenaries. - Erasmus 25 Years conference
Tania Berman, Katja Krohn, Madara Apsalone, Julien Pea, Frederik Strand Sardinoux, Laura Popa and Viktor Avlonitis attended and represented ESN at the "Erasmus 25 Years" conference in Copenhagen on May 9. The history of the Erasmus programme was discussed, the erasmus manifesto was presented and workshops about the future of the Erasmus programme were held. - IFISO Spring meeting Lodz
Josefin Svensson and Julio Hansoul attended the spring edition of the IFISO meeting which was organised by ESN UL Lodz from the 10-14th of May. During the meeting relevant matters were disscussed by the attending student organisations. - Drupal Training
At the IT Committee meeting in Brussels last weekend Alberto, Christopher, Fabian, Giovanni, Ilias, Jurriën, Salih, and Thalia were professionally trained by Nuvole to develop with Drupal. The training will help to improve the ESN tools, such as Satellite, Galaxy and others. - EUCIS-LLL
Veeli Oeselg and Tania Berman attended the Annual Conference and General Meeting of EUCIS-LLL in Leuven from 14 to 15 of May. There, Rasmus Aberg was elected as member of the Steering Committee of EUCIS-LLL. - Press&Comm Meeting YFJ
Josefin Svensson and Jirka Matousek attended Press&Comm meeting of the European Youth Forum on May 15 in Brussels and discussed communication strategy of youth NGOs.
