SocialErasmus Week
From the 4th - 11th of May the SocialErasmus week will take place all over Europe. Thousands of international students will take part in social activities that benefit the local communities. Through activities that go under the three pillars education, environment and charity the students will visit school to teach pupils about their culture, plant trees, organise donation rallies and much much more… Find out more online, check out our interactive map. Section in the spotlight

May: ESN Trondheim
This month's section in the spotlight, situated in the central of Norway, is ESN Trondheim! Trondheim was the first capital of Norway, founded in year 997, and is today Norway's third largest city. The section of ESN Trondheim consists of 23 active members where five of them are in the board. With the luck of having a country with such beautiful nature, the section organizes trips for their students to explore the beautiful landscape in Norway. Every member in ESN Trondheim is really active and the section focuses on quality over quantity at their recruits.

Photo Contest
ESN is looking for the best photos that will be included in the design of the new ESN calendar. The theme is: "Viva Erasmus - viva ESN" and photos should show what a great time Erasmus and ESN are and what good they do for you and Europe. Submit your photos! The winning photos will be featured in our new calendar and authors of the photos will receive the new calendar and ESN sweater. Find more information about the contest on esn.org

25th Anniversary Erasmus Portrait
In the third edition of the 25th Anniversary portraits we delved deep into the history of both the Erasmus programme and ESN, and thus had the pleasure to interview Désirée Majoor. Désirée was the first ever President of ESN and one of the first ever Erasmus students who went abroad in 1987. Do you want to find out how this experience changed her? Read the interview on esn.org

Joint input for the "Erasmus for all" proposal 2014-2020
Are you interested in the future of Erasmus programme? ESN and Campus Europae issued a joint input on the draft regulation of "Erasmus for all" published in March 2012. Find out more on esn.org and the input on the proposal by ESN and Campus Europae.

Design the next ESN gadgets!
We are now opening a competition for the next ESN gadgets where you, if you design the winning gadget will receive all of the new gadgets as a prize. We are looking for thermal mugs, laptop sleeves and towels. Be creative, use your imagination, but remember to follow the guidelines in the Visual Identity Manual. Open call: Committee Chairs
The call for the committee chairing teams for 2012-2013 are hereby open, we are looking for highly motivated people to help leading our committees during the coming year! Each chairing team will be elected internally by the respective committees and approved by the CNR Reykjavik, Iceland in May 2012. The deadline for the applications is 4th May 2012 23:59 CET. Call for Participants - International Youth Camp Dialogue 2012
The Council of Europe is now launching a call for participants for the 4th International Youth Camp "Dialogue 2012", which will be held in Kaluga Region, Russian Federation, 11-15 July 2012. The event will gather 300 young people with the aim of exchanging ideas, experiences, good practices and innovation in the field of intercultural dialogue and interreligious cooperation. Deadline is 14 May 2012. More information on Council of Europe website.

New Yorker BRAND NEW CHALLENGE 2012
As a global player in young fashion retailing and as an ESN cooperation partner New Yorker would like to invite you and your students to participate in the international university competition BRAND NEW CHALLENGE. In the middle of May, we will launch an international competition for universities and students. The challenge is to create a marketing strategy for New Yorker based on a market analysis and segmentation beforehand. EU and China launch people-to-people dialogue
The European Union and China are taking their co-operation to a new level with the launch of a "people-to-people" dialogue covering education, culture, youth, research and multilingualism. Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and Liu Yandong, Chinese State Councillor, signed a joint declaration in which the EU and China commit to strengthening contacts and exchanges between their peoples in order to deepen understanding and trust. 'We Mean Business': Commission launches campaign to boost work placements
The European Commission launched the "We Mean Business" campaign, which aims to encourage companies to create more trainee placements to boost young people's skills and employability. Only a few companies are aware of the possibility of hosting a trainee in the framework of a European programme and this campaign aims to change this situation and to demonstrate the benefits of international placements to businesses. - European Youth Forum meeting
Carla Filetti, as ESN representative, took part at the spring Council of members of the European Youth Forum (YFJ). The meeting, that was held in Brussels, was focused on the strategic priorities of the next cycle before the election of the new YFJ board members during the General Assembly that will be held in Maribor the next November. The new strategic priorities were accepted. - Erasmus Coordinators Conference
Tania Berman and Emanuel Alfranseder attended the ERACON Conference, from the 17th-22nd April in Cluj-Napoca on behalf of ESN. Erasmus coordinators from all over Europe gather at this conference where ESN presented its international projects and how ESN sections collaborate with International Relation Offices. - Discussion about students with disabilities
Josefin Svensson participated in the round table discussion "Debating Key issues to inclusive Education" in Brussels on the 24th of April. During the discussion participants discussed issues and solutions to inclusive education for students with disabilities. - Erasmus For All consultation
ESN was invited to take part in the consultation on Erasmus for All that was organised by the European Commission on Friday 27 of April. Several ESNers were present: Tania Berman, Madara Apsalone, Mirko Hajnos and Joachim Wyssling (representing Campus Europae). The discussions concerned the content of the programme Erasmus for All concerning student mobility, staff mobility and placement mobility.
