Youth on the Move Consultation

Have you been on Erasmus? Do you have an ESN Card? Time to show it! The European Commission has launched a consultation about Youth on the Move Card! We are young, on the move and our Card is mentioned in the European Survey (Erasmus Student Card) ! ;-) The survey is in English and it takes 3 minutes to fill in. Tick the box Erasmus Student Card, fill in your preferences and submit! That's all you need to do :-) The Youth on the Move Card will facilitate both the mobility and participation of all young people! You have only 4 more days to share your idea... The deadline is the 4th of June so be quick!

ESN UAX, Spain

The Section in the Spotlight this month is ESN UAX. The section is less than two years old and one of the smallest in Spain, but that doesn't prevent them from being a very active section both locally, nationally and internationally. ESN UAX is full of ESN spirit and the members consider themselves family.

Lisbon Cultural Medley is finally here...! From the 27th to 30th July 2011 ESN Lisboa will host one of the summer events of ESN!
Portugal is known for its sunny beaches, lovely weather, great food and one of the best wines of the world... Expect an amazing event!

ExchangeAbility: Story Competition

We are pleased to announce the launching of the story competition for ExchageAbility Ambassadors, students with disabilities who studied abroad and are ready to share some of their amazing experiences with other students.
Tell us what you did, how it was, what you gained from it, what you would improve and if you would recommend other students with disabilities to apply for an exchange programme.
As this is a competition, the best story will be awarded with a free trip to the capital of Poland, Warsaw, accommodation and conference fee for the Third International Conference: "Education for All" which will be held at the end of June 2011.
Please find on the ExchangeAbility website "Share your experience" and write us your story and help to encourage other students to experience mobility. Hurry up! The deadline for the submission of your experience is the 3 June 2011.

Be a Responsible Section!

Your ESN section can now participate in and benefit from the ESN International campaign 'Responsible Party' which aims to promote responsible drinking and behavior amongst exchange students. You can receive expert advice, teaching materials, gadgets and PR material to assist you when organising a Responsible Party in your city.

Happy Birthday Italy!

For the 150th anniversary of Italy, Think Young is organizing an event in Turin to celebrate with 500 students from all over Europe the event. Through workshops, conferences, cultural visits and parties, the event is a chance for young Europeans to discuss common challenges and inspire common solutions for the future of Europe, as well as to discover Turin! Happy Birthday Italy costs 50€, which includes the cost of accommodation, food, parties, transportation in the city, museums, conferences, a welcome package and a lot of fun!

TOTEM (Training of Trainers)

TOTEM has been designed to support the learning of those youth workers and youth leaders - already experienced within EuroMed (European-Mediterraneum) Youth Cooperation - who want/need to develop their competences as trainers in this field.

The candidates for TOTEM:
  • are youth workers / youth leaders who have experiences in the field of intrenational work and/ or in EuroMed
  • want to become trainers in EuroMed context
  • are able to work well and to express themselves in English
  • are motivated to contribute to the learning process of the training course
  • are committed to attend for the full duration and in all phases/elements of the course (Youthpass will be given at the end of the whole training course).

Interim evaluation of the Youth in Action programme

The European Commission carried out an interim evaluation of the Youth in Action Programme

In accordance with the provisions of Article 15 of the Youth in Action programme's legal base, the European Commission carried out an interim evaluation with the aim of assessing the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the implementation of the programme and reporting on the results obtained from 1 January 2007 until 31 December 2009.

  • ESN joins EUCIS LLL!
    We are very happy to announce that ESN has joined EUCIS-LLL, the European Civil Society for LifeLong Learning! At the EUCIS LLL General Assembly held in Krakow, Poland, the application of ESN was presented by Adrian Luczynski from ESN Poland.
  • Youth on the Move debate with President Barroso, Antwerp
    On the 17th May Eva Ntovolou and Joachim Wyssling participated to the Youth on the Move debate in Antwerp. At the meeting many events were organised in the framework of the structured dialogue on Youth. One of the highlights was a debate which took place between youth organisations and several important personalities: President Barroso, Commissioner Vasileiou, Peter Matjasic (president of the Youth Forum) and Ewa Krzaklewska (mobility expert and former VicePresident of ESN).
  • EU-China Youth Week Reception
    On the 17th May, Marco La Rosa participated to the EU-China Week Reception at the Chinese Mission in Brussels. The meeting was an occasion to discuss common issues between European and Chinese youth organizations. The number of exchange programmes between Europe and China is increasing and ESN is more and more providing services to non-European students.
  • EYV2011 Alliance Group Meeting
    On the 19th May, Marco La Rosa represented ESN at the meeting of the EYV2011 Alliance Group took place in Brussels. An update of the activities of ESN concerning the European Year of Volunteering 2011 was presented.
  • PRIME Conference, Padova
    On Friday 27th May the first PRIME Conference took place in Padova, Italy. Justyna Pisera, PRIME Coordinator attended the meeting presenting the preliminary results of the research project at the COIMBRA Group General Assembly. The participants received information about the project and more in general about ESN. The main outcomes of PRIME were discussed by the participants providing important elements for future researches.
  • II Thematic Conference on Volunteering, Brussels
    The EU-level thematic conference took place on 23rd and 24th May 2011 in Brussels. 8 members of ESN participated at the conference: Marco La Rosa, Tania Berman, Josefin Svensson, Oscar Boije, Igor Kalinic, Julia Felliger, Julia Trawinska, Zane Boreiko. All participants had the possibility to share experiences of volunteering and to learn from them as well as to explore possible next steps to support the further development of volunteering in Europe. At the Conference, Commissioner Reding, the President of the European Parliament Buzek, the EESC President Nilsson as well gave speeches.
  • Responsible Party event, Ibiza
    At the ESN Spain national event in Ibiza from the 10thto the 15th June, the biggest Responsible Party in the history of the campaign took place. The event was overseen by Damien Lamy-Preto and Leo Smith from ESN, Agnieszka Katner as Responsible Party representative. The event was a great a success with 2000 people attending the Responsible Party at Gala Night. There was an information stand at the event providing participants with advice, gadgets and PR material which helped teach them about partying responsibly for the entirety of the event from 5pm until Midnight. Special thanks to ESN Spain and Ibiza 2011 OC for making this event possible and hopefully it will be the beginning of more Responsible Parties at National and Local events around the network.
