ESN contribution to Youth on the Move

On the 15th of September the Commission published the Youth on the Move initiative. Part of the EU's new Europe 2020 strategy, Youth on the Move proposes 28 key actions aimed at making education and training more relevant to young people's needs and encouraging more of them to take advantage of EU grants to study or train in another country. ESN has prepared an official reaction to the YoM Communication.

ESN VSE PRAGUE: the Buddy System in the Czech Republic!

A new semester, a new Section in the Spotlight. Out of ten applicants ESN VSE Prague convinced the jury the most. They are not only creative and original on the local level, but are also very much involved in the national and international level of ESN, most recently by organizing the CoMeet in Prague. Bratislava is going to host the next Central European Platform of ESN! A wonderful city for a wonderful event! Four days of fun, sessions, workshops seasoned with networking opportunities... in the heart of Europe! Where? Groningen, The Netherlands

The official kick off takes place on Thursday November 18th. The program of the event includes plenary sessions, workshops, cultural activities, comedy, a pub crawl, an international theme party and of course the famous Eurodinner! Included in the participation fee there are 4 nights accommodation, all breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Commission seeks your views on future education and youth programmes

The European Commission has today started a public consultation on EU funding programmes in education, training and youth. Contribute with your opinion or experiences with the current Lifelong Learning Programme, Youth in Action and Erasmus Mundus and take part in the discussion about their future shape from 2014.
Anyone can take part in the online consultations - individuals, associations or organisations – by filling in an online questionnaire before 30th November 2010.

Europe besides ESN

Commissioner Vassiliou Congratulates the cities preselected in Spain for the title of "European Capital of Culture 2016"

At its four-day meeting in Madrid, the selection panel appointed to assess the cities applying to be a European Capital of Culture in 2016 in Spain recommended that the following be preselected from a fiercely competitive field: Burgos, Cordoba, Donostia-San Sebastian, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Segovia and Zaragoza.
Once this recommendation has been ratified by Spain, the preselected cities will have to flesh out and complete their applications by the summer of 2011.

  • Youth on the Move public debate
    Leo Smith and Rania Chantzopoulou attended a public debate with the European Commissioner for Education, Androula Vassiliou at the Breydel building in Brussels on 17th September 2010. In the web debate Mrs Vassiliou, underlined that more mobility for all and in all learning experiences should become the norm and therefore they are launching a "Youth on the Move" initiative in the course of 2010, highlighting the general needs of young people with a particular focus on mobility.
  • UNICA Student Conference Declaration, Rome 2010
    The UNICA student Conference took place in Rome from the 22-25 September. Marketa Tokova, Veeli Oeselg and Christoph Bachmann were chairing three of the ten sessions that were organised. More than 150 students from all over Europe gathered to talk about Higher Education Issues. The main outcome of this meeting was the so called "Rome Declaration".   • CNR Vilnius
    From 23rd to 27th September, in Vilnius, the National Representatives of ESN and the International Board had the first CNR meeting of the academic year. The meeting was very fruitful: projects, ideas and the upcoming year strategy were discussed.
  • New CNR Administrator
    During the CNR meeting in Vilnius, a new figure in the network was created: the first CNR Administrator is Christoph Bachmann! Christoph is the former National Representative of ESN Germany, he's currently part of the Network and Events Committee with the position of Vice-Chair
  • Next YFJ Liaison Officers
    During the CNR meeting in Vilnius, the next Liaison Officers for the European Youth Forum (YFJ) were elected: Madara Apsalone, Carla Filetti, Lea Benirschke. They will start their mandate on 1st December.
