ExchangeAbility, 4th Coordinator

ESN is looking for a person to be part of the ExchangeAbility Coordinating Team. ExchangeAbility is a project developed by ESN and the European Disability Forum that aims to make ESN an association accessible for disabled students at all the level of its activities. ESN Alumni, the organisation for former active members of ESN at all levels (local, national, international), is looking for a 4th Board Member, responsible for communication. The main responsibilities will be to improve the quality of internal communication and increase the visibility toward active ESN members. National Boards Meeting - Wien

This October, from Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th ESN Uni Wien in cooperation with ESN TU Wien and ESN FH bfi Wien organize the National Boards Meeting. The aim of the NBM is to discuss about issues that concern the national level of ESN. Various ESN National Board Members from all over Europe will gather in Wien to find common solutions and exchange best practices. The Registration Deadline is September 13th. ESN goes Social(Erasmus) in Valencia

From the 15th July till the 15th August the 3 ESN Sections from Valencia with the collaboration of the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia and the Mancomunidad del interior tierra del vino organised an environmental volunteering project called "Fire Prevention in the forests of Utiel-Requena". The program combined daily surveillance walks through the fire-endangered forests with leisure activities and 60 volunteers participated during the four weeks of this project, representing 14 different countries. Scholarships for Research on volunteering: send your project!

In the framework of the European Year of Volunteering, the French National Institute for Youth and Education (INJEP) / French agency of the European Programme Youth in Action (AFPEJA), the Franco-German Youth Office (OFAJ) and the Civic Service Agency are offering two scholarships for research projects focusing on volunteering. The projects must be conducted in France or in Europe between October 2010 and September 2011. Deadline for applications: September 30, 2010, Visit the official website for more information.

Belgian EU Presidency conference on "Creativity, Culture and Innovation"

The seminar entitled "Creativity, Culture and Innovation: looking for new links" is organised in the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union. It will take place on 8th and 9th September at the Flagey Cultural Centre in Brussels. The event will host participants coming from the 27 Member States: professionals from European institutions, representatives from international organisations working in this sector, national administrations, experts, associations and cultural professionals are expected. The EU Journalist Award 2010 is now open

The competition is open to journalists who write on issues of discrimination or diversity on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, disability and sexual orientation. All entries must have been published in a print or online media outlet which has its main editorial office in one of the 27 EU Member States. The winner of the European competition, plus the two runners-up, will receive prizes with a value of euro 5000, 3500 and 2500 respectively. The winners of the 27 national competitions will receive a prize with a value of euro 1000. For more information, visit the website of the competition

EU-China Year of Youth 2011

The EU and China have declared 2011 as the EU-China Year of Youth with a view to "further promoting and deepening partnership between Europe and China". The Joint Statement of the 12th EU-China Summit held in Nanjing on 30 November 2009 also focused on "strengthening exchanges and cooperation on cultural relations" and on pushing forwards the "dialogue mechanism on educational policy". The EU-China Year of Youth coincides with the European Year of Volunteering and the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteering 2001.   • Updates from the IT Committee
    The IT Committee met again, on the second week of August in Kalamata, Greece. The main topics of this meeting were the evaluation of the previous year and the planning of the coming one. A lot of teambuilding activities took place as well and the contribution of our guests from the Natonal and Local level were really important for improving the communication between IT and the network. Moreover, the IT committee and the AGM Budapest OC are looking for Drupal Developers willing to contribute to the creation of a sustainable registration system. Do you need more information?
