Responsible party

On 21st June 2010 ESN International and Pernod Ricard officially signed the European partnership agreement to develop the Responsible Party Program. The initiative includes a complete toolkit to help students organize parties in a responsible way, as well as a website for sharing information and good practices. During the trial period ESN Lausanne and ESN Gent organized parties in their cities. You can find their stories and photos from the events on the official Responsible Party website. ESN International has new Secretary

On 1st July 2010 ESN International welcomed in Brussels its new Secretary Leo Smith from ESN Sheffield (United Kingdom). Leo will be the first reference person when it comes to administrative questions regarding our organisation. He will be working together with the new board for the next 6 months. Share your open EVS and Erasmus Placement positions with the whole network and foster the network-wide mobility of ESN members and find the most suitable person for your section. 9th International Youth Meetings @ Zabinki Camp

9th International Youth Meetings @ Zabinki Camp will take place this summer from 29th August till 4th September in Zabinki, a small village situated in the middle of Mazuria, Poland.

The camp is designed for young people (aged 18-30) from all over Europe. The participants are university students, graduates, youth workers, NGO members and young professionals. The program includes different kinds of activities and fosters non-formal education, integration and intercultural learning. All the details, programme, on-line registration form, can be found on the Zabinki camp's website .

Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

On 1st July 2010, Belgium took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Youth being one of the priorities of the Belgian EU-Presidency, Belgium plans to elaborate the aspects of 'youth work' within the new policy framework and come up with a resolution on youth work. The work will be based on the results of the Swedish presidency in 2009 From 7th-10th of July two conferences on the topic of Youth Work will be organised in Gent.

European Council adopts education targets in EU 2020 strategy

The European Council has adopted the so-called EU 2020 strategy for economic growth. After pressure from European Students' Union (ESU) and other organisations, the strategy includes a target to increase the share of 30-34 year olds having completed tertiary or equivalent education to at least 40 per cent.
