ESN welcomes Ukraine

At the Council of National Representatives (CNR) that was held in Istanbul from 12^th-13^th of February 2010, ESN – Luhansk Shevchenko University from Ukraine was approved as a full member of ESN network. Since this moment ESN will be represented in 34 countries.

We want to congratulate ESN – Luhansk Shevchenko University with their membership, and want to wish them all the best for the future.

ExchangeAbility Meeting, Antwerp, 26-31 May 2010

The second meeting of ExchangeAbility project is going to take place in May in Antwerp. This time not only coordinators but also regular ESN members can participate!
We would also like to encourage everybody interested in the topic of mobility of students with disabilities and those who would like to get involved in the project.
The whole meeting  will be arranged in an accessible way for students and trainers with disabilities.

“COMMUNICATING SCIENCE – STRENGTHENING THE – RESEARCHER, JOURNALIST, CITIZEN – TRIANGLE”

Final conference of the FP7 Science in Society project “MY SCIENCE European Program for Young Journalists” focusing on the theme Communicating Science in Europe, relevant for researchers, journalists and citizens of Europe. The conference will be held on 28^th May 2010 in Bolzano, Italy.

Among the guests of the conference are Peter Grünberg, German Nobel Laureate in Physics from 2007 (Germany), Istvan Palugyai, editor of Hungarian newspaper and well known science communicator (Hungary) and Nuno Crato, winner of the EU science communicator award 2007 (Portugal).Conference Language is English and no participation fee is charged.

Polish President died in plane crash

Polish President Lech Kaczynski has died in a plane crash near an airport in western Russia, which killed all passengers on board. The presidential plane came down in a forest as it tried to land at Smolensk airport. The accident happened on 10^th April at 7:00 GMT with the runway covered in early morning fog. The presidential plane left Warsaw early on Saturday for Smolensk for an event to mark the 70^th anniversary of the Katyn massacre, when Soviet troops murdered thousands of Poles. Kaczynski was travelling with his wife at the time along with other government officials and journalists.
