What's going on in Europe besides ESN?: International Youth Day 2007Be seen, be heard: Youth participation for development
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Youth Day 2007 the European Youth Forum demanded the UN and its member states to convene a 2nd World Youth Ministers Conference and a 5th World Youth Forum - the 4th World Youth Forum took place in Senegal 2001. The theme of the International Youth Day this year "Be seen, be heard: Youth participation for development" touches the aims and the mission of the YFJ and its members organisations, in particular concerning the recognition of the role of Youth Organisations as spaces of participation and commitment to society change and development. To mark this year's celebration, YFJ decided to show the work of its member organisations, through pictures and posters to all the people passing by YFJ office in rue Joseph II, Brussels, last weekend, where ESN's photos from the Erasmus Van tour, as well as some from other this year's activities were displayed. The International Youth Day was an important step initiated by the Ministers Responsible for Youth at the 1st World Ministerial Conference in Braga, Portugal, in 1998. In that occasion the Ministers adopted a resolution proclaiming 12 August as the International Youth Day. Nine years after that a follow up has to be done. learn more on http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unyin/iyd2007.ht
