2. ESNLive: What's up?Pallomeri how many of you know what is that? Pallomeri is a Finnish word for the childrens' ball pools you'll find in fast food restaurants, like the one below. For everyone in ESN however Pallomeri means something different but equally as much fun!The expression PALLOMERI shall represent on the one hand the fun and activity in ESN and on the other hand it is what you make out of it: it can be the PALLOMERI feeling you have when you are organising parties, it can be the list of the new PALLOMERI friends you have from all over Europe. It represents the passion we put in things - and therefore PALLOMERI is something we as - ESNMembers - have incommon! learn more on http://www.esn.org/esn_internat

ESN has been celebrating not on one, not on two, not even on three days but the festivities go on the whole year. Not only good news today. The great project of having an ESN Train touring through five European countries has been cancelled. Things looked good in the beginning. There were enthusiastic people, all carriages could be found, slots of the tracks were reserved, the program was supported by the host cities and even a train driver could be found. But then, unfortunately, there were too few applications for the train. Hence having a train used to only one-quarter would not only economically make little sense. Therefore, the OC decided to stop the train before it could leave its first station. But the idea remains in the head of many people. So, watch out at railway crossings, an ESN train may pass by. Don't forget to join it then. And we received another bad news from European Erasmus Meeting OC: it seems that the big party in Venice won't be this summer, but the next one (2008). They had to take this decision because Venice Majory won't be able to finish the drainage of the area where they were supposed to hold the party. But the OC decided not to get upset, and to begin right now to organize a bigger event next summer So, if anybody will ask, the answer is "don't worry: there is going to be a huge party next year!" 6. What's going on in Europe besides ESN?European Youth WeekEuropean Youth Forum took part in the 3rd European Youth Week, which was organised throughout Europe from 3-10 June 2007. The centralised event (3-6 June) took place in Brussels and it had the aim to promote the Youth in Action Programme and European Youth Policies, as well as to contribute to the structured dialogue between the European Commission and young people. In the opening plenary session European Youth Forum presented its recommendations to the European Union, among which are some very interesting for ESN, like the demand for recognition of non-formal education and the active role of youth NGOs in youth policy making. Not being a member of the European Youth Forum at the time of organising the event, ESN was invited by the European Commission as a guest to participate in the opening and closing plenary sessions and at the celebrations of the event, where it was represented by its president Giorgio Marinoni. "The impression I got was overall positive, because the Commission gave a positive signal of willingness to include civil society in the political debate and listen to the voice of European Youth, represented by the European Youth Forum and all youth organisations. I think that ESN, as a wide European student NGO and a candidate member to the EYF, should participate with an active role in this debate for topics that concern student mobility", says Giorgio. The final conclusions of the event were forwarded to the Commission and the Council of Youth Ministers, and are expected to be taken into account in their policy formulation.
