3. Topic of the month: Compe-t-shirt: design ESN’s official t-shirt and win!

Did you ever want to work for big designers like Gianni Versace, Chanel or Gucci? This experience may not be so far away! ESN would like to ask you to design their official t-shirt for 2007. If you’re full of pallomeri-spirit after your exchange and would like to do something creative by designing a logo, original sentence or drawing that everybody in ESN can wear, don’t hesitate to take part.

How can you participate?

On www.esn.org/community a tool will be available to choose your t-shirt template and upload your unique design onto it. It’s very simple because a t-shirt practically designs itself.

From 22/12/2006 until 25/01/2007 your designs will be reviewed by an international jury and pallomeri prices will be given out to our top designers! (T-shirts, Lonely Planet guides, travel vouchers)

From December 22 you will find more information on http://www.esn.org/community/tshirts/make for questions please turn to Jakob at external@esn.org.

5. Get Involved: Treffpunkt Europa/Network Europe

The European foreign broadcasters are launching new European radio programme called "Treffpunkt Europa" / “Network Europe”. The collaboration is broadcast once a week over shortwave, DRM (digital shortwave) and the Internet (podcasting/radio on demand). The address: www.treffpunkteuropa.eu respectively www.networkeurope.org As part of the series of broadcasts, Treffpunkt Europa/Network Europe are exploring what the European Union means for young people, what sort of issues interest them, and so on.

The idea is to work with students, who can speak German (English) and are studying German (English) language and literature or communications/media, from as many of the 25 EU-member states as possible. The students are expected to listen to the programme, "Treffpunkt Europa" or “Network Europe” (once a week, or at the very least, once a month), analyse it and then give their opinions (e.g. write a term paper). They will also have the opportunity to discuss the content and structure of the programme. We will respond to their suggestions and will even be prepared to alter our show accordingly. The programme will be podcasted, so that the students can listen to it any time. We should be able to provide them with manuscripts of our broadcasts, should the students need them for academic use.

What we can offer:

  • collaboration on DRM programmes, if equipped (e.g. university radio)
  • involvement with the Internet site
  • contact with students from 25 countries
  • short term traineeships at Deutsche Welle or its European affiliates (probably one for each country)

If the universities have their own internal radio stations, we can offer them the opportunity to rebroadcast our content (German, English, French) free of charge. We would also be very interested in working in conjunction with the university newspaper. Collaboration with local radio stations/newspapers is also a possibility.

Sincerely yours,
Petra Kohnen
