After three months of open call for a logo for “Happy Birthday, ESN”, the time has come to choose the final design! Vote on Facebook from 1 to 14 October and help us shape the celebrations of 20th Birthday of ESN.

The vote is anonymous and open to the general public, even though aimed especially for the ESN members. The winner will be announced on 16 October 2008 - exactly one year before the 20th birthday of ESN. Watch out for more news!

The Board reserves the right to take the final decision (as the poll at Facebook is opened to public).

Building Europe Piece by Piece conference

We hosted around 40 ESNers from all over Europe whom actively participated during the 2-days event.

The Puzzle Conference took place in Brussels on 18-19th of September. We hosted around 40 ESNers from all over Europe whom actively participated during the 2-days event.

First day we led the discussion with the policy makers from the European Commission, Committee of Regions, French presidency and other organizations.

Second day the participants took part in Treasure Hunt in Brussels, and finally, piece by piece, we built up Europe!

Over 3'000 important persons involved in international higher education came together in Antwerp for four days.

Six people representing ESN International taught high-level representatives about how to organise a welcome week, the ESNSurvey, ESN PRIME, and the ESN Galaxy.

A lot of valuable contacts were made and many left Antwerp with the impression: Involve students to help students!

The 2008 edition of the ESNSurvey is launched. The main topic of this year is “Exchanging Cultures”.

As one of the core objectives of any exchange is to discover foreign cultures, integrate with local people and try to adapt to new cultural conditions, we think it is interesting to see if these processes really take place during a study period in a foreign country. The survey deals with topics such as cultural shock and its social implications, integration with local culture and people, intercultural skills learned etc.

The NEW BOARD is here

The Erasmus Student Network AISBL has a new International Board!5 young, ambitous and motivated persons are now fully responsible for our organisation on international level and the conduct of various high-profile projects.

Since the Country of National Representatives in Warsaw in May the new Board of ESN International is complete and fully in charge. From now on the new Board is going to work full time in Brussels in the composition of:

Marketa from ESN VSE Prague / Czech Republic as Vice-President (vicepresident@esn.org)
Erdeniz from ESN Anadalou / Turkey as Treasurer (treasurer@esn.org)

Magda from ESN UMK-Torun / Poland as External Relations Responsible (external@esn.org)

It is the fourth year that ESN is represented in Brussels. Year by year ESN gains new sections, new ideas and grows stronger. According to the new Action Plan 2008/09 created by the members of the new Board and approved by CNR the following year will be ambitious, full of new tasks and projects, but at the same time it will be the year of stability and strengthening the basis of ESN as one of the most important student organizations in Europe.

The New Board wishes for fruitful cooperation with all the sections, members of ESN, existing and new partners. Together we will be active, creative, and supportive to ensure high-quality services to ESNers and international students.

The PR and Communication working group is looking for webradio teamers.

ESN is diversifying its communication tools: after the Galaxy (plus Identity) Supernova, and the Wiki, we are now about to launch a webradio.

Your prime responsibility will be to plan and coordinate the esn webradio; decide (together with the coordinator) what will be broadcast, find (or be yourself) a DJ, a speaker, a copywriter, an author...

More in details:
• The webradio will broadcast 24/7; it's possible to record the actividies scheduled unitil one month in advance, and physycal presence in Brussels is not required.
• The target audience will be the ESNers, mainly during the opening of ESN offices, but whoever who can connect to the internet will be able to listen

You will work as part of a multi-functional team in ESN (the ESNradio); the commitment required is around 3 hours per week, plus some extra during summertime -when the radio will be programmed. Bear in mind that, as it is your project, you will be self-responsible for organizing your timetable.

The Treasure Hunt

The Treasure Hunt.

...are you ready?

You can join the rest of the network and take part in a Treasure Hunt throughout Europe.

During the week from Friday 26th April to Monday 5th May every section is invited to organise a Treasure Hunt in its city, involving exchange and local students.

You can shape your Treasure Hunt as you wish: small or huge, few hours or a whole day, alone or with other sections (national Treasure Hunts are allowed, too!)

But every Hunt will have something in common with the others: all the organisers will be able to choose the questions to be answered and the tasks to be accomplished from the same list. Of course you can add whatever you like, but this will ease your work..

We will collect the videos of the Treasure Hunt, and display them all together in the same website: please don't forget to shoot something: the funniest moments, the best participants, the most smiling organisers.. the network want to see you! Send us your pictures and upload you video in youtube (please send the link to secretariat@esn.org)

And what's the Treasure to be found? Our Star of course!You will create an ESN star, using as many different materials as you like: wool, wood, paper, cotton, iron, plastic, cans... you can be creative! And it will be possible to have it in any dimension (but not smaller than 10 x 10 cm). Then every star will be shown during the final conference: just imagine a big square full of different colored stars!

Which final conference? The one where the winners (and OCs) of the various Treasure Hunts will gather in Brussels (if the answer from the Grant we apply for will be positive) with their expenses covered.
