Every year the ESN Alumni network is awarding an ESN Alumni prize during the Annual General Meeting of ESN. The prize is provided to the sections and has focused over the past years on knowledge transfer amongst the volunteers of ESN. In 2012 the Alumni prize will be awarded to the “most innovative project”. This broad theme should allow the development of new activities and best practices within the network and reach out to a large audience through the award of the Alumni prize.
Past prizes:
AGM Granada 2012 Award: The most innovative section project
ESN PW Warsaw for the Ecological-Scientific Picnic
AGM Budapest 2011 Award:
Alumni Development and Cooperation
ESN Alumni Deutschland eV
Award: The Best Training Programme
ESN Besançon
AGM Istanbul 2010 Award: Knowledge Transfer
ESN Czech Republic for the knowledge transfer in ESN CZ
AGM Utrecht 2009 Award: Knowledge Transfer
ESN Tallinn for their ESN Diary
The ESN Historybook is a project of ESN International, aiming at keeping track of the changes of ESN as whole in order to be able to see its development and anticipate the future of the network by having knowledge of past happenings. Some Alumni members took the challenge and contributed largely to this book. The ESN Historybook was released in 2011.
You can find the ESN Historybook for download on the ESN Galaxy (make sure that you are registered and logged in to see it)
The ESN Alumni Medley is the ESN Alumni Platform. The next Alumni Medley is taking place in Groningen! ESN Groningen welcomes all ESN Alumni to the Alumni Medley of Autumn 2012 in Groningen. It takes place from the 23rd to the 25th of November 2012.
This year, ESN Groningen celebrates its 25th anniversary and will combine the Alumni Medley with the celebrations of the local section. You can find out more about what else will be going on during this weekend at the ESN Groningen website.
All in all we hope to realize a positive atmosphere where both new and old meet up and allow for some experience to be transferred while we're at it.
You can find an overview of the programme for the weekend at the ESN events website, right here as to be precise.
With a total of over 70 ESN Alumni having registered, it surely provides plenty of "seasoned" ingredients to make this a great weekend!
The Alumni donation system is aimed at sustaining the ESN Alumni network, contributing to the ESN Alumni prize which is presented at the AGM and also actively supporting ESN International - in times of crisis, support from its Alumni members can be really helpful for an NGO. For the moment donations can be made by a bank transfer to the ESN Alumni bank account (managed by ESN International)
As having been an active ESN member, everyone of us is staying in the ESN Alumni network for various reasons: keeping in touch with the ESN spirit, professional networking among Alumni network members, supporting actively ESN, etc. In the Action Plan 2011, the ESN Alumni Board intends to create such interest-based circles based on the current interests of ESN Alumni members. The ESN Alumni members will be responsible for maintaining these groups on their own by organising discussion rounds (eg. on LinkedIn), organising informal meetings among Alumni network members or supporting ESN actively (donation, participation to Committees and various meetings or projects).
An ESN Alumni network member is more than welcome to contribute to the ESN network with her/his knowledge and motivation, by actively participating at the AGM (workshops, AGM helper, etc.) and Committees (contributing to ESN project and strategy). We also intend in building a pool of trainers for various ESN meetings that are organised over the year in order to allow a smooth knowledge transfer and also enhance the individual key competences of ESN members (in cooperation with the ESN EduK8 project).
The idea of the Sweet ESN History project (SEH) was initiated at the Alumni Meeting in Dresden in 2010. The overall idea of the project is that the Alumni produce something useful for the active ESN members. And of course, the history of ESN is one of the main fields where the Alumni members are competent. They have seen and experienced it all!
In practice, a document about certain topics of ESN History are put together by the Alumni members, but also kept up to date. The major sources for the information are the AGM documents and the personal knowledge of Alumnies. The initial list of topics covered under the Sweet ESN History is as follows:
Currently the project is still in its initial phase and work on the different parts of the Sweet ESN History has started.
Of course, help is always needed and if you have in-depth knowledge about certain topics of ESN, and you are eager to get involved, please let us know and get in touch!
Write to alumni (at) esn.org for reaching the ESN Alumni Board. The general ESN contacts can be found here.
The newsletter is sent out every three months, in order to receive it please register in the ESN Galaxy and request your Alumni role to your local section, your National Alumni Coordinator or the ESN Alumni Board (this will allow you to receive the Newsletter)
