PRIME Research

From January till May 2009, members of ESN conducted qualitative research among HEI and their faculties on the procedures applied to outgoing Erasmus / Exchange students. The main field of research was the information policy of HEI / faculties regarding Erasmus and other exchange programs and learning agreements.

The research was carried out as a qualitative interview with the staff of the International Relations Office of the HEI / faculty. Additionally, former Erasmus / Exchange students were surveyed in order to understand their experience of recognition programme. More than 100 HEI / faculties and 2.400 students participated in the research.

PRIME research was done on local level and consists of two phases:

  • Questionnaire for higher education institutions and their faculties on the procedures applied to outgoing Erasmus / Exchange students. (www.esn.org/prime)
  • Questionnaire for former exchange students regarding learning agreements and course recognition. (www.esn.org/prime/student.php)

The whole PRIME research was completed entirely by student volunteers – starting from the interviews with the IROs to analysing the data and organising local and final dissemination conferences.

PRIME Final Report

The final report of the PRIME research was finalised at the end of October and published at the end of November 2009. The analysis and report was written by the PRIME team composed of 6 devoted and motivated ESN members:

  • Madara Apsalone
  • Tomas Bort
  • Stefan Fiedrich
  • Tony Filoni
  • Julia Panny
  • Daphne Scherer

The report is available for downloading here.
