OPEN CALL: ESNSurvey Team & Coordinator

Fri, 27/07/2012 - 14:19 — gmt117

We are looking for a new ESNSurvey Team and ESNSurvey Coordinator!!!

What is ESNSurvey?

The ESNSurvey is one of the most essential and oldest international projects of ESN. It has been giving ESN a lot of recognition and clout. It is entirely based on volunteer work of the ESNSurvey team and the vast resources of the ESN network.

We are now recruiting the new team to compile the Survey report for 2012 and develop the questionnaire for 2013.

Required skills are primarily the following:

  • Very good knowledge of written English
  • Background in social sciences such as sociology, economics, psychology or similar
  • Interest in high-level academic research, preferably with postgraduate experience
  • Some knowledge of quantitative statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of how to develop a questionnaire
  • Knowledge of statistical software, preferably SPSS
  • Knowledge of ESN and education policies are a plus

What you get out of it?

  • Possibility to use the data for your own research (so far on average 10,000 respondents per Survey)
  • Designing a full research project in an international team
  • Conducting a Europe-wide research
  • Improving your academic writing skills in English
  • Educing policy recommendations from research outcomes
  • Communicating research results to various groups of audiences and stakeholders (amongst others, the European Commission has always been interested in the results)
  • Presenting the research results at academic and policy-development conferences (possibly)
  • Additionally, you will get recognition in terms of being mentioned as one of the authors of the official ESNSurvey publication (see previous editions)

For more information and pdf-versions of previous editions check http://esn.org/content/esnsurvey.

Please send a short motivation letter, CV and information on university level courses including grades to survey-coordinator@esn.org. Deadline for the application is September 20, 23:59 CET. Note that this is a voluntary position and not paid.

Please don't hesitate to contact the project coordinator Emanuel Alfranseder in case you have any additional questions.
